The Alice Apron!

I had a request for an apron inspired by Alice in Wonderland. It was so much fun to dream up and to make, and it's (finally!) all done.

Here was the original sketch:

And the result:

The white over apron can actually be removed, there are buttons on the top (under the collar) and on the waist where it attaches, and this is how the apron looks without it.

The neck strap is adjustable, and also uses buttons.

This was a fun one, I hope she enjoys it!

Wow! That's awesome! I love how you get two different looks with one apron.

OMG!I've been trolling the internet looking for a tutorial on Alice's apron for my daughter (4yo). She wants an Alice in Wonderland party. I already have a blue dress - any suggestions?

Hi Kelly! I'd think Alice's overapron would be pretty simple to do, I'd just use a small rectangular piece of white fabric for the top (perhaps using white binding on the sides, and just using those for the ties around the neck as well to make it easier), then for the skirt part I'd cut a larger rectangular piece of white fabric, perhaps 3 times as wide as the top and whatever length you want, hem it, and then gather it so that it's a little larger than the top in width, then add a waistband, line up the raw edges of the top and skirt (so that the back of the top and back of the skirt are touching), sew both into the waist band, flip up the top, press, and add some ties to either side of the waistband (by slipping them inside then sewing them shut).

Sorry I don't have time to write out a full tutorial with pics, but here's one that gives the basic idea (rectangular bib with gathered bottom). I'd just skip the more complicated top and use one piece of white fabric for it as explained above.

Hope that helps a little, good luck. :-)
